If you are still interested in playing play station 2 games then you don't have to wait long enough because sony has decided to bring classic ps2 games on your favourite PS4 console? Well, but you have to pay a little price for it.

PS4 owners will now be able to download and play their favourite PS2 games via PlayStation Store in Americas and European countries, said Sony in a press release on Friday. The Japanese electronics giant company showed off PS2 games like Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud running in high-definition on a PS4 in a video published to its YouTube page. However, the video ends with a message which some gamers might not like.
"PS2 Classics and PS2-formatted discs are incompatible with the PS4 system," reads a line at the very end of the video.
Which means you cannot insert ps2 disk in ps4 console it will not work.If you want play then you have to buy ps4 compatible version which will come with minor upgrades.SONY spokesperson said "PS2 titles playable on PS4 will support 1080p/60fps, trophies and features unique to PS4 -- Live Broadcast, Share Play, Remote Play, Activity, Second Screen -- and offers an upgraded gaming experience compared to PS One/PS2 Classics,"

This appears to be an strategy to compete with its fierce rivals Microsoft. The Redmond, Washington, Microsoft plans to make all Xbox 360 video games work on its current Xbox One console without any cost. Gamers who purchased an Xbox 360 game, in form of digital download or a physical disc, will be able to play that game on Xbox One without spending  any more money. In November, Microsoft revealed the first 104 Xbox 360 games that now work on the Xbox One.

The first PS2 games that have been made available now for the PlayStation 4 are: War of the Monsters, Rogue Galaxy, The Mark of Kri, Dark Cloud, Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and Twisted Metal Black. The games costs from $10 to $15 (£6.62 to £9.93).

Sony last month said it sales has reached 30.2 million acroos the world since the console went on sale in November 2014, outpacing other current-generation gaming consoles like Xbox One and Nintendo's Wii U.
